Prostitute with a Douche Mary Reid Kelley

This work by Mary Reid Kelley is titled Prostitute with a Douche. This drawing was done with acrylic ink and charcoal, like many of her works. Kelley is known for her puns and wordplay in her pieces and I believe this is a prime example of that. Since this is a contemporary piece made in 2010, this was made during a time where the word "douche" is used for what is depicted in this drawing and as a term to describe a sleazy jerk-like person. Almost like describing the type of men sex workers often encounter.
Kelley has a very deliberate style in almost all of her works, (especially in this series) that draws you in and leaves you unable to look away. With her use of color and design she gives these modern drawings and old-timey feel.
